Two purported heroin users have been charged with stealing a Salvation Army donation kettle from a Walgreen's in Caledonia just before Christmas.
Alicia Wojtowicz, 34, and her boyfriend, Jacob Doppke, 35, were arrested after police published a store security camera image of a woman stealing the kettle.
Within hours after the photo was circulated, police received multiple calls from people who identified Wojtowicz as the woman. One caller, according to the criminal complaint, said Wojtowicz had been recently fired from a Taco Bell for stealing a donation collection display from the restaurant.
Callers also identified Doppke as her boyfriend. He's accused of being the wheelman in the Caledonia theft.
Investigators responded to Wojtowicz's mother's home in Kenosha and found Doppke, and the empty kettle and its stand in the garage.
Doppke initially denied any involvement but changed his tune after the kettle was found, according to the complaint. Multiple track marks were observed on Doppke's arms, police said.
Wjtowicz was arrested after being spotted driving by the home.
