COVID Disrupts 'Nunsense'; Forces Closure of RPD Lobby

Jan. 5, 2022 3:30p

(WGTD)---Some breakthrough cases of COVID among the cast and crew of the Racine Theatre Guild's production of "Nunsense" is delaying the start of the production.

Instead of opening this weekend, the musical comedy will now begin Friday, Jan.14th and run through Sunday, the 23rd.

According to a news release from the R-T-G, patrons with tickets for this weekend's performances will be contacted by the box office. They'll have the option to either exchange into a new date, donate the cost of their tickets back to the non-profit theatre company and receive a refund. To accommodate the shrunken schedule, one additional performance has been added to the run.

"Like many theatres throughout the country, we have tried to navigate the challenges of reopening with COVID," said Doug Instenes, RTG managing/artistic director. "The cast and crew are heartbroken to have to delay the start of the show and we are so grateful for their dedication to the production," he said.

Also Wednesday, the Racine Police Department announced that its lobby has been closed to the public due to COVID concerns. All business will be handled at the drive-thru.

The closure is expected to last 14 days.
