(WGTD)---One worker was killed and two others were injured--one seriously--in an explosion that occurred while the men were installing a pier on Lauderdale Lake in Walworth County Friday afternoon.
According to a news release from the sheriff's dept., the man who died was pronounced dead at the scene. A second worker with severe injuries was taken to a local trauma center. The third worker was treated at the scene and released.
The cause of the blast is under investigation. Deputies located a pontoon-type barge with significant damage on the shoreline.
The men worked for a local pier service.
The release says the Walworth County Hazardous Materials Unit assisted with fuel spillage.
