Extra-Curricular Activity Gets School Board Security Officer in Trouble

March 16, 2022 9p

(WGTD)---A part-time, Kenosha Unified school security guard who picks up extra hours providing security at school board meetings engaged in some extra-curricular activity and is now in trouble with the board.

Dave Molinaro, while on duty at a recent meeting, apparently reached his boiling point and stepped to the podium during citizens’ comments to speak his peace about the district’s mandatory mask policy.

As a result, he wasn’t invited back to work at this past Tuesday’s board meeting. But Molinaro showed up anyway to double-down on his criticism of the board, and especially school board president Yolanda Adams. "The problem with speaking, Ms. Adams, is that it went against your agenda. If Unified's bullying policy had a high bar, you would clear it in street shoes." Molianro said. "You are a bully. You are unprofessional."

By state statute, neither Adams or any other school board member could respond to Molinaro’s comments during the meeting.

But Adams told WGTD afterward that she and some other board members didn’t have a problem with Molinaro expressing his opinions. It’s just that they felt he shouldn’t do so while on the district’s dime.
