Federal Agent Shot & Wounded; Suspect Takes Own Life

From Racine Police: 

On October 6, 2021 members of the Racine Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit assisted with a US Marshal task force operation at 3722 Clairmont Street within the city of Racine. Members of this federal task were at this location to serve an arrest warrant on an individual wanted for charges including aggravated assault and weapons violations. While attempting contact at the door of 3722 Clairmont Street, officers were fired upon from within the residence and a federal agent was struck by the gunfire. At that time the officers pulled back and there was no return fire from law enforcement personnel.

Negotiations take place after which, several children and adults exited the residence. Following negotiations, law enforcement personnel did make entry to 3722 Clairmont Street and discovered the male suspect deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At this time the federal agent is in stable condition.
