Kenosha--A former Kenosha School Board member and the point man locally for the proposed Menominee Indian casino at Dairyland Greyhound Park has died.
Eric Olson passed away Sunday at St. Catherine's Hospital. He was 68.
Olson served on the school board for ten years, including four as its president.
Following a 31 year-long career in advertising, sales and product management at Cherry Electric, Olson became the Menominee Indian's local liaison for the casino project which eventually died after Gov. Walker refused to approve it.
Olson was involved in many community organizations and endeavors, including the Boys and Girls Club, local baseball and the Wounded Warrior Project. He also served for ten years on the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission.
Graveside services will take place Thursday at 3 p.m. at St. James Cemetery. A reception will follow at Circa on 7th at 4 p.m., with reflections from friends to be held at 5 p.m.
