Aug. 16, 2026 9p

(WGTD)---Homes could go up soon on the former site of a Kenosha homeless shelter.

Decades ago, the Shalom Center was borne in a former school building at 18th Ave. and 62nd St. The Uptown neighborhood building was demolished after Shalom moved to a new location on 39th Ave.

According to city documents, a development company called Stonehaven is interested in putting up five, single-family modular homes on the site.

The company is working with Marshfield-based Wisconsin Homes, and already has a project underway in Whitewater.
