Future of Higher Education to be Discussed at Carthage

Apr. 16, 2024 4:50p

(WGTD)---Higher education is in turmoil due in part to stagnant or falling enrollments. Budget cuts and changes in strategy are the order of the day.

Thursday at Carthage College, Carthage President John Swallow will be joined by Jay Rothman, president of the Universities of Wisconsin, to discuss the topic.

The discussion, to be moderated by WGTD Morning Show host Greg Berg, will take place as an installment of the Carthage Business and Professional Coalition program series.

The event will begin with a luncheon at 11:30 to be followed at noon by the program itself.  .

While Carthage College achieved a record first-year class enrollment last fall amid a nationwide enrollment decline, the struggle at the Kenosha liberal arts school is far from over. As is the case at many schools, student retention initiatives are getting much more attention these days.

Carthage President John Swallow was a recent guest on The Morning Show.
