Gun Deal Turns Into Gunfire, Leading to a Death in a Case Similar to a Kenosha Incident

(WGTD)---The shooting death of a teenager in Racine last month apparently was the result of a gun deal gone bad.

According to the criminal complaint, 18 year-old Demonte Collins and 17 year-old Vonta Rockette had gone to 18 year-old Trent Harper’s house on Republic Ave. in the middle of the night in a pre-arranged trade of firearms. Gunfire broke out instead, and Harper was killed.

Investigators pieced together the case from video surveillance cameras, an incriminating social media video, flock cameras and GPS cell phone data.

The case is reminiscent of a confrontation near Library Park in Kenosha earlier this year in which Isiah Collins, 16, was killed.  A second person was shot, while a third person suffered a head injury. Two teens were charged with murder.
