(WGTD)--Almost as quickly as he lost his license to practice law, Kenosha County District Attorney Xavier Solis has regained it.
The state Supreme Court's Office of Lawyer Regulation announced Tuesday morning that Solis' license has been reinstated--less than 24 hours after it was suspended for failing to cooperate with an office investigation into "one or more" allegations of misconduct. The allegations were not identified.
Reinstatement was made under a provision that allows a law license to be automatically returned if officials are reasonably satisfied that the attorney has disclosed "fully and fairly all facts and circumstances pertaining to the alleged misconduct..."
The paragraph references missing a deadline. Solis, operating since he took office in early 2025 with a shorthanded staff of attorneys, has a history of missing deadlines and asking for extensions.
Shortly after the OLR announced the suspension Monday, Solis' deputy, Rosa Delagado, said she would essentially serve as the office's acting director until which time Solis' license would be reinstated or she would receive guidance from the governor's office. The governor has the power to remove elected district attorneys.
