Jean's Jazz Series to Resume at RTG

Feb. 6, 2022 8:50a

(WGTD)---The first jazz concerts to be held at the Racine Theatre Guild since the pandemic began two years ago have been scheduled.

The Jean's Jazz Series will resume Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m. with Chicago blues singer Ivy Ford. Then on Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m., trumpeter and Racine native Eric Jacobson will perform the album that changed the future of jazz music, Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue.”

In 2001, Joe Mooney created the Jean’s Jazz Series in memory of his wife, Jean, who passed away from ovarian cancer. Since then, over 21,000 people have attended the concerts, grossing more than $120,000 to benefit the Theatre Guild.

Jean's Jazz scheduled appearances by both Jacobson and Ford were among those that were canceled in 2020 because of COVID.

Tickets are available on the Racine Theatre Guild's website.
