One of Kenosha's longest-serving aldermen is behind bars.
G. John Ruffolo, 54, was booked into the Racine County Jail on an unspecified criminal charge late Tuesday morning.
A criminal complaint is expected to be filed Wednesday in Kenosha Circuit Court, according to Wisconsin Dept. of Justice spokesman Johnny Koremenos. "Mr. Ruffolo will be making an initial appearance in Kenosha County Circuit Court tomorrow," Koremenos said in a statement that was emailed to WGTD News Tuesday afternoon.
Although Koremenos declined to comment on the nature of the charge, Ruffolo's online booking page at the Racine County Jail lists "stalking" as a reason for the hold.
According to the website, Ruffolo is being held without bond.
Neighbors said Ruffolo was escorted from his north side home Tuesday morning by law enforcement personnel who spent about two hours there. At least one of several vehicles that were parked outside was a marked Kenosha County Sheriff's Dept. squad car.
Ruffolo arrived at the Racine County Jail just after 11 a.m., according to a spokesman for the Racine County Sheriff's Dept.
Neither the Kenosha County Sheriff's Dept. or the Kenosha Police Dept. would comment Tuesday.
Ruffolo has been on the council for over 19 years.
Ruffolo made headlines about four years ago when another alderman accused him of gluing shut his car door. No charges were ever filed, and the matter was eventually dropped.
