Kenosha County Board Tilts Further to the Left

Apr. 9, 2026 11a

(WGTD)---Several candidates who share at least some politically progressive values were elected Tuesday to the Kenosha County Board.

Kyle Flood counts himself as a political progressive and is active in the Kenosha County Democratic Party.

In contested county board races, Flood supported David Lux, Ricky Tagliapietra, Dave Tarzon and Jeff Cologna. They all won, further weakening a conservative presence on the 23-member board that was in the majority just a few years ago. "I think that (Tuesday) night seals the deal that we're not going back to where we were four years ago," Flood told WGTD.

Flood, a former Kenosha School Board member, called Tuesday’s election a good night overall for progressives.

Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman was re-elected to another four-year term without opposition.
