Jan. 28, 2022 6:15p

(WGTD)---Nearly one-fifth of all COVID-related deaths that have occurred in Kenosha County have taken place this month.

New numbers from Kenosha County Public Health put this month’s death toll at 101, with the medical examiner’s office still reviewing recent deaths. Altogether, Kenosha County has recorded 560 deaths from the pandemic.

Kenosha County Public Health Director Jen Freiheit says most of the deaths that occurred this month were of unvaccinated people.

On another topic, Freiheit says over 300,000 N95 masks have been distributed free of charge in a program that was rolled out less than a week ago.

Some 73,000 masks remain on hand. She says the county will be able to replenish its supply. The masks are available at libraries and other public buildings in the county. They’re being handed out in packs of 20.
