(WGTD)---A Kenosha County Sheriff's Dept. sergeant remained in the hospital Monday morning after suffering a leg injury while at the scene of a barn fire Sunday night.
The supervisor was struck by a fire hose that knocked him to the ground, according to a Sheriff's Dept. spokesman. A deputy was treated at the hospital and later released.
The two officers were among dozens of emergency personnel that responded to the fire in the 6800 blk of 317th Ave.
Initial reports indicated that horses were inside, but they were rescued by the property owners and appeared to have no injuries, according to a KSD release.
Wheatland Fire Chief Lou Denko said a brisk wind helped spread the flames through the 20 X 80 foot building.
The Sheriff's Dept. said the barn was completely destroyed but that no other structures were damaged. The cause remained under investigation.
