(WGTD)---The conversion of the former Pick 'n' Save grocery store in Kenosha's Uptown into a school is complete.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony at KTEC Schools of Innovation is scheduled for Thursday.
The independent charter school bought the building for $5 million last year. The 4K-12 had been operating out of leased space adjacent to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
KTEC describes itself as a tuition-free school that's chartered under the auspices of the University of Wisconsin. The school, partially funded by tax dollars, provides a STEM-focused college and career pathway.
According to previous reporting, the new building will allow the school to grow to 650 students.
The building has been sitting empty since Pick 'n' Save pulled out in 2017.
