KUSD Dress Code Review; Dark Store Bill Progress; Nehlen Ostracized

(WGTD)---The Kenosha School board appears ready to do a line-by-line review of the district’s student dress code which has come under steady criticism in recent months. At a special meeting Tuesday night, a majority of board members rejected a call to assign the job to an ad hoc committee. After over an hour of discussion, board president Tamarra Coleman said she planned to schedule another work session for March, and asked her colleagues to recommend any changes before the end of February. Recent criticism of the code has centered on provisions relating to yoga pants and leggings, spaghetti straps, sleeveless shirts and tank tops.

(WGTD)---State Representative Peter Barca says progress has been made in getting the legislature to close a loop hole that’s benefited big box stores at the expense of homeowners. In a news release, the Kenosha Democrat said a majority of legislators in both houses have signed a letter of support for a measure that would prohibit retailers from comparing themselves to comparably-sized stores that are currently vacant. Despite the show of support, a call for an immediate vote on a so-called dark store bill was rejected Tuesday by Republicans in the Assembly who control the lower house.

(AP)---Wisconsin Republicans are reacting to a racist tweet from Paul Nehlen, a Republican who's challenging House Speaker Paul Ryan. Membership dues that Nehlen paid to county parties in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties have been refunded to Nehlen or donated to charity, according to a state party spokesman. Nehlen was banned from twitter Sunday after tweeting an image that replaced the mixed-race fiance of Prince Harry with a dark-skinned prehistoric Briton known as "Cheddar Man." Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says "it looks to me like he's a racist bigot."
