Apr. 2, 2020 5:35p; Corrected 7:45 to show the increase is fewer--not the total number

(WGTD)---The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus continues to climb.

Statewide, it's up to 1,730. The increase is actually 19 fewer than the day before, but 50 more than the day before that.

Kenosha County's number--at 77--is triple of what it was about a week ago. Racine County is at 40, an increase of 12 from the day before. In Walworth County, the number stands at 15, up substantially from a few days earlier.

No deaths have been reported in the tri-county area. Statewide, that number continues to rise and now stands at 31, with about half having occurred in Milwaukee County.

Just south of Kenosha, in Lake County, the death toll is at 12, up five from the day before. All five had underlying conditions and were in their 60s, 70s and 80s.

Target announced Thursday that starting Sunday it plans to limit the number of customers in each store at any given time, and will provide workers with face masks and gloves. The retailer also announced that it will donate two million KN95 respirator masks to the medical community.

The City of Kenosha issued a news release Thursday, reminding residents as the weather warms up that city playgrounds, basketball courts and tennis courts remained closed. Signs have been posted at those facilities. The city's Municipal Golf Course at Washington Park is delaying its opening. City parks, however, remain open.
