The cause of a nearly three-hour-long power outage on Kenosha's far west side late Sunday afternoon is still under investigation, but We Energies believes it may have been a tree limb coming in contact with a power line. The outage affected about 2,500 homes and businesses on either side of Highway 50, and slowed traffic at intersections that were left without signal lights.

A fiery two-car crash in Mt. Pleasant Saturday evening resulted in serious injuries to a 17-year-old girl from Madison. The collision occurred on Highway 20 at Oakes Rd. Both vehicles burst into flames within seconds. According to a news release, the first responding officer pulled one occupant from a vehicle. The teen, who was flown to a Milwaukee hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, was cited for operating without a license, no insurance, unreasonable and imprudent speed, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to keep a vehicle under control. The occupants of the other vehicle--all from Camp Douglas--sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
