(WGTD)---Three generations of women from a local family have an even stronger reason to brave the elements and hike 28 miles through Yosemite National Park later this summer.
80 year-old Fran Wargolet of Bristol, her daughter and granddaughter will be raising money to support earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela.
The money they raise will go to support the efforts undertaken by a nonprofit called ShelterBox. It specializes in providing tents, emergency shelter kits, repair materials, water filters, solar lights, cooking equipment and other gear to victims of natural disasters and in some cases war.
The family’s fundraising trip was planned before the earthquake hit. But now there’s a greater sense of urgency to meet or exceed the goal of $15,000.
Donations are being taken online.
