March 17th, 2020 5:30p

*Bar rooms across Wisconsin were ordered closed under new restrictions announced today by Gov. Evers. Restaurant may remain open, but only for offering delivery and take-out service. Evers also extended the closure of all public and private K-12 schools indefinitely.

*The number of confirmed cases in Wisconsin increased from 47 to 72. Four cases are confirmed in Kenosha County, including one case that has been identified as “community spread,” meaning that the individual does not appear to have contracted the disease through travel.

*The Kenosha County Board will be briefed tonight on the virus beginning at 7:30. Members of the public are invited to listen in by calling 408-418-9388 and using the access code 627 541 553. Kenosha County is winding down non-essential services.

*Gateway Technical College will shut down all of its facilities beginning on noon Thursday.

*Froedtert South announced today that it is establishing a drive-thru testing site for coronavirus. The site is at its new facility located at Green Bay Road and Highway 31. Appointments are required to be tested at the site.

*All Racine County jury trials scheduled from March 16th through April 12th have been suspended and jurors should NOT report for jury duty.

*U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed all of its detainees—numbering 170—from the Kenosha County Detention Center after Sheriff Beth declined to accept new ICE prisoners. Beth told reporters Tuesday he’s comfortable with the result because ICE hasn’t increased its per diem reimbursement in 20 years and has increasingly been making unreasonable demands.

*Kenosha Police are asking citizens not to take offense if officers recognize symptoms of COVID-19 during a police contact and take measures to protect themselves from virus transmission.
