(WGTD/WPR)---Early indications point to a markedly lower turn out for Tuesday's election compared to 2016, the year of the last presidential preference primary in Wisconsin. As of 8 p.m. Tuesday, Kenosha County had a 39% turnout of registered voters, according to County Clerk Reg Bachochin. The 2016 election saw a Kenosha County turnout of 59%. Bachochin cautions that Tuesday's numbers will change as additional absentee ballots trickle in. A federal judge allowed ballots received after Apr. 7th to be counted as long as they had a Tuesday postmark. More than twice as many voters in Kenosha County voted absentee than in-person. Officials had pushed absentee voting as a way of limiting interactions at the polls because of the coronavirus. In Dane County, with additional absentee ballots expected to arrive this week, turnout Tuesday was about 50%, much lower than the 66% recorded four years earlier. Meanwhile, state data shows a gap of 12,710 ballots between what was requested by voters and what clerks mailed out. Many at the polls Tuesday said they were there because they had not received their requested absentee ballot.

(WGTD)--Staffers at Gateway Technical College's Fab Lab at the iMET Center in Sturtevant have joined the ranks of others who are producing personal protective equipment for health care workers and emergency responders. John Zehren and Adam Reed are using 3D printers to manufacture what they call a "mask tension relief band." It's a plastic piece worn behind the head to keep masks in place. They take the place of elastic bands that loop around the ears. Those bands can become uncomfortable over time. The Fab Lab techs are also in the process of developing plastic shields.
