Luck is Expected to Decide a Randall School Board Race

(WGTD)---The apparent loser in a western Kenosha County school board race could potentially become the winner after an errant absentee ballot surfaced days after the April 5th election.

The Town of Randall Board of Canvassers met Thursday afternoon and determined that the ballot should be opened and the voter's selections included in the totals. The mailed-in ballot had gotten mixed up with junk mail at the town hall and was discovered only last week. Board members determined Thursday that the ballot had more than likely arrived at the office in time and should now be opened and counted.

Town officials then announced that the voter--who wasn't identified---had voted for a Randall School Board candidate who appeared to have lost by a single vote. So with the race now tied, challenger Meredith Kurtzweil still has a chance of unseating incumbent Jeffrey Swanson.

All she has to do is get lucky in a pending drawing or coin flip of some sort that apparently will determine the winner.

There are a few steps that need to be taken first. For one thing, Randall School's Board of Canvassers will have to meet and weigh in on the matter. That meeting has yet to be scheduled.
