(WGTD)---A middle school in Kenosha has raised nearly $50,000 for ‘Make-A-Wish”, the foundation that finances wishes for children facing critical illnesses.
The money was raised through a walk-a-thon that was held at Lance last week. Students walked three tracks that were set up on the grounds of the south side school.
According to a news release from the district, every three years Lance hosts a walk-a-thon to support a charitable organization that’s selected through a student-led process. Students research potential charities, create and deliver presentations and participate in a school-wide vote to determine the recipient of the fundraiser.
The release says the event is designed to highlight the school’s commitment to student leadership, civic engagement and service to others.
