Racine Mayor John Dickert says he still wants to see a downtown hotel and event center, even though the Milwaukee Bucks have picked another location for its development league team. As expected, the Bucks announced Wednesday that the team will go to Oshkosh. In a written statement, Dickert says the proposed $46 million complex for the corner of Gaslight Drive and Lake Avenue in Racine is still viable, even without the Bucks' team. Minor league hockey team owner Craig Leipold, husband of Helen Johnson-Leipold of S-C Johnson fame, has pledged to bring a hockey team to Racine should the convention center become a reality.
