(WGTD)---A Milwaukee man purportedly confessed to killing a woman in a downtown Kenosha hotel earlier this week while out on three separate bonds in previous cases, according to a criminal complaint that was filed Friday in Kenosha Court.
29-year-old Timmy Brooks was charged with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, Possession of a Firearm as a Felon and five counts of bail jumping. Bond was set at $1 million.
Housekeeping at the Wyndam Garden found the lifeless body of 30-year-old Montreach Mitchell in a room Wednesday morning.
She and Brooks had checked in the night before.
The complaint quotes Brooks--who turned himself into Milwaukee Police shortly after the killing--as saying he and Mitchell argued in the early morning hours. He said he grew tired of the arguing, pulled out a gun and shot Mitchell in the back of the head. He fired two more shots into her body after she fell to the floor.
Two hotel guests who were in separate rooms on the same floor as Brooks and Mitchell both said they were awakened by what they believed to be gunshots. It's unclear if they called police.
Surveillance camera shows Brooks leaving the room by himself just before 6 a.m.
Brooks' pending charges included one for domestic violence stemming from an incident that occurred in August of last year at 2027 60th Pl. According to court records, Brooks used his vehicle to box in Mitchell from leaving her apartment, then started pounding on the car with a pole. Brooks ran when police arrived but was found hiding in the bed of a pickup.
Mitchell only reluctantly cooperated with police. "She stated that she did not want the defendant arrested and just wanted her car keys back," the complaint said.
In addition to the domestic violence charge from last year, Brooks is facing charges from two separate incidents that occurred this year, one for hit and run-injury and the other for resisting/obstructing and bail jumping. Bonds in all three cases ranged from $1,000 to $1,500. In each case, bond was posted and Brooks was released.
