(WGTD)---The cause and origin of a fire that heavily damaged a north side Kenosha neighborhood tavern remained under investigation Monday.
Firefighters were dispatched Sunday at 12:34 a.m. to Kenosha Beer Gardens at 3501 14th Ave., according to a fire department news release. Firefighters found a "large volume" of fire and initiated what was described as an aggressive offensive fire attack. They eventually had to pull back due to fire in the ceiling.
The initial report indicated that occupants were still inside, but all were accounted for by the time firefighters arrived.
It took two hours to bring the fire under control, due to "void spaces" that were in the nearly 100 year-old building.
A back deck was destroyed and two apartments were declared uninhabitable. Three tenants were displaced. The bar room itself was heavily damaged.
No injuries were reported.
No word on whether the bar was still serving at the time.
The property owner declined to comment when approached Sunday at mid-morning.
