Kenosha---According to a criminal complaint, the man accused of killing a Kenosha high school student last month told four different versions of his interaction with the victim, none of which included an admission of guilt.
19 year-old Daniel Tate was formally charged Tuesday with Party to the Crime of First Degree Intentional Homicide, Hiding a Corpse and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Owners Consent. A court commissioner set bond at a million dollars.
Authorities accuse Tate of strangling the victim, Olivia Mackay, then trying to sell her car.
Speaking to investigators, Tate initially denied having any contact with the victim, then admitted to meeting up with her briefly. When confronted with contradictory information, Tate then purportedly pinned the crime on another man. When that man gave investigators an air-tight alibi, then Tate shifted the blame to somebody else whom he said he didn’t know.
A second teen is facing charges. 17 year-old Jamari Cook admits to being with Tate on the night of the killing, but said all he did was help Tate get rid of the body.
