Nominations and Applications Being Accepted for Race Equity Panel

May 25, 2021 9:10p

(WGTD)---The Kenosha county board supervisor who chaired the work group that worked out the details of the makeup and broad goals of a new commission on race-related equity issues says there’s high interest in the panel.

Jerry Gulley spoke on last Saturday’s Community Matters program on WGTD. Gulley says he’s already heard from a number of people who either expressed an interest in serving on the commission or suggested someone who'd be a good choice.

The authorizing resolution for the commission was approved last week by a unanimous vote of the county board.

The panel is to be made up of nine members, seven of whom will be appointed by the county executive. Five of the seven need to be racial or ethnic minorities themselves.

The application process is outlined on the county’s website.

The deadline for applying is the end of June.
