Open Mic Trips Up Racine Murder Suspect; Details in Kenosha Bar Shooting

(WGTD)---There were new developments last week in two high-profile murder cases in the area.

A new complaint fingered a different gunman in the death earlier this year of 14-year-old Eugene Henderson.

28-year-old Crishawn Clemons appeared in court Friday on a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide and was ordered held on bond of $500,000.

A complaint issued earlier this year had identified another man as the gunman, but that charge was later dropped.

According to the new complaint, a witness who apparently was talking to his mother in an interview room after investigators had stepped out changed his story and identified Clemons as the gunman who fired the fatal shots from a vehicle. The complaint says a video recorder had been left on and captured the admission. Only later did the investigators reportedly discover the extra-curricular conversation. The witness said he lied so as not to implicate his brother.

The complaint said several other people who'd been in the suspect's vehicle subsequently corroborated the new version of events.

In the second case, a criminal complaint against a 29-year-old North Chicago man revealed new details in a shooting last month at the Las Margaritas tavern in Kenosha in which two people were killed and two wounded. Kendal Readus allegedly fired shots into the bar from a vehicle in retaliation for a fight that took place earlier in the evening inside the bar.

Investigators were able to crack the case by examining surveillance video that captured images of the suspect's vehicle as it drove past the bar. Seconds later, the car crossed paths with a police officer who'd been responding to the scene, and the vehicle's license plate was obtained. The vehicle's registered owner was tracked down in Illinois and she allegedly implicated Readus.

Police are still looking for Readus. The alleged driver of the getaway vehicle was arrested this week in Georgia.
