Racine County has landed a Taiwanese-owned company, but it's not the one we've been telling you about, at least not yet.
Johnson Health Tech North America is relocating a small manufacturing plant from South Milwaukee to existing space in the Grandview Business Park along I-94. When fully operational, the manufacturer of fitness equipment will employe 75 workers in a 200,000 sq. ft. facility.
The company is part of Johnson Health Tech, Inc., a Taiwanese-based company that describes itself as being among the world's largest and fastest-growing fitness equipment manufacturers. Brands include Matrix, Vision and Horizon.
Jordan Brown of the Racine County Economic Development Corp. tells WGTD News he's been working to bring the company to the Town of Yorkville well before Foxconn popped up on anyone's radar.
In Foxconn news:
*Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, who's wrapping up a visit to China, says Foxconn is looking at building a second facility in his state that might somehow be tied into the auto industry.
*The Wisconsin Assembly is expected to vote next week on the Foxconn incentive package.
*Kenosha Unified Facilities Director Pat Finnemore says representatives of Kenosha Unified and the City of Kenosha have already met to discuss a series of 'what ifs.' Foxconn reportedly is continuing to look at sites in both Kenosha and Racine counties. Finnemore says the district is excited about the possibility of renewed growth.
