Racine School Board Picks a New Superintendent

(WGTD)---Racine Unified Interim Superintendent Soren Gajewski will no longer have the phrase "interim" in front of his title.

Gajewski was named the permanent successor to Eric Gallien who left the district last summer.

The Thursday night board vote in open session was unanimous and was without discussion.

The vote came following a nearly two-and-a-half-hour-long closed meeting during which time Gajewski and another finalist, Whitewater Unified School District Superintendent Caroline Pate-Hefty, answered final questions from board members.

Gajewski has held various administrative positions in Racine Unified over the past 17 years. Gajewski began his career as a teacher in the Milwaukee Public School District.
