Racine Mayor Dickert has settled on a man with several decades of municipal administrative experience to serve as Racine's next city administrator.
Pending city council confirmation next week, James Palenick will replace the retiring Tom Friedel.
According to a news release, Palenick has over 28 years of experience as either a city manager or chief administrative officer in several communities in Michigan, New Mexico and North Carolina. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
Dickert predicts that Palenick will be a good fit with Racine. "His demeanor and the experience he brings should make for an easy transition as Tom begins his retirement," Dickert said.
Department heads and council members were involved in the selection process.
