(WGTD)---The three-vote margin in a Kenosha aldermanic race in last week’s election has withstood a recount.
The nearly three-hour-long process performed Wednesday at the Municipal Building ended with Ruth Dyson affirmed as the winner by three votes over Erick Hansen. The seat is being vacated by Mitch Pedersen.
Even though the outcome remained the same, some questions were raised. The matters involved technical issues involving three absentee ballots.
Attorneys for the city opined that corrective measures that were undertaken were proper and the votes should not be discounted. The panel performing the recount voted to go along with the advice.
Thursday, recounts will be held in three close races for seats on the Kenosha County Board. The process will take place at the Kenosha County Center at Highways 50 and 45. If the recounts aren’t concluded by the end of the day, then they’ll resume Friday and continue Saturday if necessary.
