Revolutionary War Learning Experience at the Pritzker

July 14, 2026 8:30p

(WGTD)---On this 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence, the Pritzker Military Museum and Library in Somers is hosting a traveling exhibit titled, “Among his Troops: George Washington and the Citizen-Soldier Tradition.”

Coming from the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, the exhibit includes an actual piece of George Washington’s command tent. "This is an incredible opportunity to really look and see and understand what our soldiers were living through during that period of time," said Pritzker President Scott English on WGTD's Morning Show.

The story behind the piece of tent fabric is that Martha Washington’s grandson inherited the tent and snipped off a few pieces to either hand out as souveniers or to sell.

The exhibit will be on display at Pritzker through the end of the year.
