(WGTD/AP/Pool)---Witnesses who testified at the Kyle Rittenhouse trial Thursday described the first man shot and killed by Rittenhouse as “hyper-aggressive”, and who eventually lunged at Rittenhouse in a possible attempt to grab his gun before it went off.
On the stand was Richie McGinniss, a videographer for the right-wing, online news site "The Daily Caller." McGinniss had been following Rittenhouse and witnessed the shooting of Joseph Rosenbaum. He says Rittenhouse seemed to pivot just before Rosenbaum tried to grab his gun.
McGinniss was one of the people who gave Rosenbaum first aid as he lay dying in a used car lot across from Froedtert South. He also accompanied Rosenbaum in the back of an SUV as they were driven a short distance to the E-R. "I was just telling him that we're going to have a beer together afterwards and that it was all going to be okay," said McGinniss, adding that he wasn't sure Rosenbaum heard him. "It seemed his eye was looking at me and I was looking at him. So I'm not sure if he heard me but I think perhaps he did."
Rosenbaum was pronounced dead a short time later.
Meanwhile, Rittenhouse—being chased by a mob—then shot and killed a second man and injured a third. Rittenhouse’s attorneys are claiming self-defense.
Another witness—Ryan Balch—described how Rosenbaum had threatened to kill both him and Rittenhouse earlier in the evening. Balch and Rittenhouse walked around together while both were armed the night of the shootings.
The prosecution is expected to continue presenting witnesses when the trial resumes Friday morning.
