RTG's 83rd Season: “Wizard of Oz,” “Clue,” “Hello, Dolly!” And More

RACINE, WI – March 3, 2020 – A large crowd gathered at the Racine Theatre Guild on Tuesday, March 3 as the community theatre’s 2020 – 2021 season of plays and musicals was announced. The 83rd season of entertainment is packed with mystery and history, comedy and drama, and intimate moments and showstopping numbers.

Full season subscriptions are on sale now, starting at just $60 and include “Clue: On Stage,” “Moon Over Buffalo,” “Native Gardens,” “Always A Bridesmaid,” and “Hello, Dolly!.” Limited run bonus shows, “Bye Bye Birdie,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Hana’s Suitcase” can also be added on to subscriptions.

For audience members with varying schedules and interests, flex passes are also available. They allow patrons the opportunity to pick and choose which shows they would like to see during times and dates that work best for them. Individual tickets will go on sale for “Bye Bye Birdie” on Friday, May 8 and the rest of the season on Wednesday, July 1.

With the 1960s on the horizon, rock ‘n roll is sweeping the nation and no singer is more popular than teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie. When he is drafted for the army, his manager, Albert, cooks up a publicity stunt to sell Birdie’s new song “One Last Kiss” by having him give a farewell performance and kiss to one lucky fan on The Ed Sullivan Show. They decide to visit Sweet Apple, Ohio and get more than they bargained for while trying to find the perfect girl to kiss.

Clue: On Stage

Thunder crashes, lightning flashes, and rain pours as a cast of mysterious characters gather for a dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. Each is given a familiar alias – Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum, and Miss Scarlet. When their host mysteriously turns up dead, they all suddenly become a suspect. In a slapstick evening full of madcap murder and mystery, it is a race around the board to solve the puzzle as the body count continues to rise.

Moon Over Buffalo

Fading Broadway stars, George and Charlotte Hay, are trying to keep their marriage and ragtag theatre troupe afloat. They arrive in Buffalo, New York and have one last shot at stardom when a film director is rumored to be attending one of their performances. Unfortunately, everything that could go wrong does, including uncertainty about which play they are actually performing. But the show must go on in the comic romp that includes wrestling, confusion, bickering, fencing, jealousy, and plenty of hilarity.

A fence runs the border of Pablo and Tania’s barren backyard, separating it from their new neighbors’, Frank and Virginia, award winning garden. When Pablo, a high-powered attorney, has the chance to wow his new firm at their home, the very pregnant Tania takes it upon herself to fix up their lawn. Soon, they discover that a portion of Frank and Virginia’s yard actually belongs to them and their friendship turns into an all-out turf war with side-splitting, back-and-forth mudslinging about taste, class, privilege, and entitlement.

Always A Bridesmaid

Hana’s Suitcase

When a group of students study a tattered suitcase from the Holocaust, they find three things written on its side: “Hanna Brady,” “May 16, 1931,” and “Waisenkind,” meaning orphan. Left with countless questions, their teacher begins a worldwide search to find out who Hana was, where she came from, and her final fate. Past and present mysteries intertwine as they begin to discover clues about Hana’s courageous life story. History and heart pulsate throughout the true story brought to life on stage.

Hello, Dolly!
