Jan. 2, 2023 9p

(WGTD)---A spokesperson for the state Department of Health Services confirms that it too is investigating the weather-related death of a resident at a senior care facility in Kenosha.

The 89-year-old woman was found dead outside of Parkside Manor Dec. 19th at 7:45 a.m., according to a news release from the Kenosha Police Dept. The release--issued just after Christmas--indicated that "potential" criminal charges could be referred to the district attorney's office.

The Health Services department is responsible for licensing senior care facilities and investigating any violations.

A spokesperson said the results of the investigation into the woman's death would first be forwarded to the facility, then posted online within two weeks. A time line for the police department's investigation was not disclosed.

According to online records, Parkside Manor was investigated on two separate occasions in the last three years over four complaints. None of the complaints could be substantiated, according to the department's website. The nature of the complaints weren't revealed.

Parkside Manor is owned by a Chicago-based company called Encore Senior Living. The company issued a statement acknowledging the death and offering condolences, and indicated that it had launched its own investigation.

The identity of the resident has not been revealed.
