(WGTD)---A convicted sex offender was arrested Wednesday just a day after his release from prison.
33 year-old Jacob Johnson was picked up for an unspecified violation of his extended supervision just two blocks from one of two locations where police had earlier said he might be living.
According to a news release, the suspected violation will be investigated and could result in criminal charges.
Johnson was last convicted in 2013 of sexual assault and strangulation of a woman in her 40s. Based on his record, Johnson was placed on the state's sex offender registry.
Johnson was released this week under a classification indicating a high potential to reoffend, police said.
Police said the suspected violation did not involve a new crime.
