Six KUSD Schools Switch to Virtual; Testing Extended at Festival Hall in Racine

(WGTD)---A half-dozen Kenosha Unified schools either have gone virtual or will go virtual as the result of high COVID positivity rates. 

According to the district, the Grant, Dimensions of Learning, Harborside and Indian Trail buildings were closed to students Friday. On Monday, Harvey and Whittier elementary schools will switch to remote learning. 

All of the schools either reached or are close to hitting the threshold 3% positivity rate for students and staff. 

In-person instruction is expected to resume at the six schools Tuesday, Jan. 18th. 

153 new cases of COVID were reported in the district on Thursday, according to the district's COVID dashboard. 

In Racine, public health officials announced that National Guard COVID testing at Festival Hall has been extended through Jan. 27th. Hours will continue to be Mondays and Thursdays from noon to 6 p.m. 

The number of testing sites in Kenosha County are expected to be expanded in the coming days.
