(WGTD)---A company that specializes in building 'fly-by-wire' drones is expected to set up a testing station on land it plans to lease from the Village of Mt. Pleasant.
The 38-acre site is north of Highway 20 and is at the end of West Rd.
It'll be used by Menet Aero, LLC to test its line of tethered drone systems.
The company recently consolidated operations that had been located in Milwaukee and in Ringwood, Illinois to a building in Oak Creek on W. Bell Ct.
According to a news release, the company currently employs 13 engineers and technical professionals and has plans to double its workforce by 2025.
Menet's move to Oak Creek and the pending lease of land in Mt. Pleasant were jointly announced by the company, the village, Oak Creek, Milwaukee 7 Regional Partnership and Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.
The release says that these tethered drone systems are capable of quick deployment in high-stress situations, such as military combat zones and natural disaster areas, and support a variety of payloads for a range of applications, including telecommunications, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and live broadcast video feed.
The Mt. Pleasant land lease is subject to approval by the village board.
