Just before 11:00 AM today, Kenosha Police received a third party 911 call stating that a three-year-old girl had been shot, inside a residence, in the 5100 block of 29th Avenue. Police arrived on the scene to find the three-year-old victim suffering from a severe gunshot wound to a lower extremity. Officers provided critical first aid to the victim, while clearing and securing the scene of the shooting. The three-year-old was transported to a local hospital and then flown to Children’s Hospital via Flight for Life. She is expected to survive. It is not yet known if the gunshot was intentional or accidental. The victim’s eighteen-year-old brother is in custody and it is believed was handling the firearm at the time it was discharged. The investigation into this incident is active and ongoing. The eighteen-year-old will be held on a probation violation until appropriate charges can be determined. No other information or records are available at this time.
