Truck Driver OD's On The Job; Now Faces Charge of Endangering Safety

A worker whose job it was to ferry around heavy loads of I-beams and pre-cast concrete apparently overdosed while on the job Saturday. Now the 44 year-old Kenosha man is facing a charge of endangering safety.

According to the criminal complaint, police and paramedics were called Saturday to KW Precast in Burlington.

They found a man--not breathing-- slumped behind the wheel of a cab of a truck that had crashed into another truck. A co-worker said the 44 year-old Kenosha man was a heroin user and probably had overdosed. The man came to after paramedics administered two doses of Narcan, a drug that counteracts the effects of opiates.

Police opened the man's wallet and came across a note that read, "To whom it may concern. My name is...and I struggle with drug addiction. My drug of choice is opiates. When I'm here I may not be of best mind and would like you to make choices for me which would be in my best interest. So if there are other means to help me other than narcotics please do so."

At the hospital, though. the victim denied that he uses illegal drugs.

The man, however, has a drug charge pending in Kenosha County, and is currently on felony probation in another case.

According to the criminal complaint, the man's job entailed driving a "yard" truck that hauled loads of up to 90,000 pounds within the compound of the company.

The man is being held on a probation hold.
