(WGTD)---Challengers have emerged in two so-called "safe" Assembly districts that are currently represented by men on opposite sides of the political spectrum.
Democrat Tod Ohnstad, who once served on the Kenosha City Council and on the UAW Local 72 board, has represented Kenosha in the Assembly since 2013. Crystal Miller, owner of a string of assisted living facilities, is expected to formally announce next week her intention to seek the Republican Party nomination for the seat Ohnstad currently holds. Miller has been a board member for the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha and Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services.
Meanwhile, a Burlington building contractor, Bob Prailes, has announced his candidacy for the Democratic Party nomination in the 63rd, a district that's long been represented by Republican Robin Vos. Vos has served as Assembly Majority Leader since 2013. Prailes' resume includes the Chocolatefest Executive Board. He's also president of the Burlington chapter of Kiwanis International.
The deadline for filing nomination papers is June 1st.
