(WGTD)---A home was heavily damaged and another was scorched in a fire Tuesday night in Somers just east of Sheridan Rd. and two blocks north of Carthage College.
The blaze at 707 16th Pl. broke out just before 8:30 p.m. Mutual aid was summoned early, given that the front of the home was engulfed in flames as the first Somers firefighters rolled up.
Two people inside got out safely, but a firefighter suffered minor injuries in an interior collapse, according to a news release.
The cause remains under investigation.
