(WGTD)---The six year-old Kenosha County Food Bank has  teamed up with a long-time social service organization to strengthen the county's food distribution network.

The Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency has signed on to perform some operational and coordination tasks, and connect families to broader wraparound services to address the root causes of food insecurity.

According to a news release, the Food Bank is expanding its role as the central hub--enhancing sourcing, logistics and system-wide coordination so food is distributed more efficiently and equitably.

Kenosha County Food Bank Board President Teri Knuese said the new arrangement creates operational efficiencies.

Food banks in both Kenosha and Racine act as a middleman between donors and the consumer-facing food pantries that the food banks help to supply.

The Kenosha County Food Bank already has a partnership with the Racine County Food Bank.
