(WGTD)---A Mt. Pleasant salon worker says he shot a customer to death because he refused to pay for a haircut.

33-year-old Tamir Williams was charged with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide Monday in the Saturday death of 21-year-old Andre Sandoval. The shooting happened outside of Angel's Beauty Salon on Durand Ave.

According to the criminal complaint, Williams purportedly told investigators that an argument ensued after Sandoval refused to pay for his haircut and left. Williams followed, with a backpack that contained a handgun. The suspect said he then shot the customer out of fear that he was going to be shot.

According to the complaint, Williams did not respond when asked if he felt threatened by Sandoval. "Williams went on to say that he thought that the police were going to shoot him as well," the complaint said. "Williams was unemotional and showed no remorse for the shooting. He was also evasive at times," according to the complaint.

Williams was also charged with possession of a firearm contrary to a harassment injunction which was issued earlier this year.

Bond was set Monday at $100,000

A social media fundraising account set up by Sandoval's family to cover funeral expenses has already exceeded its $8,000 goal.
