UW-P Chancellor Ford Named as a Finalist For a Top University Job in Ohio

Updated Feb. 7th at 5 p.m.

The university administrator position in Ohio that UW-Parkside Chancellor Debbie Ford is seeking includes no internal finalists.

Word Tuesday from Wright State University that the chancellor of Missouri University of Science and Technology is one of three finalists for Wright State's presidency rounds out the field that includes Ford and UW-Platteville's chancellor.

In an email to Parkside staff Sunday, Ford said she views the potential move as a "progression in my career," and as a chance to be closer to members of her family who live near Louisville, Kentucky.

Wright State describes itself as a research university with nearly 18,000 students. The school's current president is retiring at the end of the school year. Parkside has fewer than 5,000 students. Ford has served as Parkside's chancellor for the past seven years.

In her email Sunday, Ford praised Parkside's staff and students and the community itself. "Please know that each day it is an honor to work with people who uphold the values of this university and who show a true passion for helping our students succeed."

According to Wright State's website, Ford concluded a three-day campus visit on Tuesday.

Prior to coming to Parkside, Ford served as Vice-President for Student Affairs at the University of West Florida, and Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Spalding University in Kentucky.
