(WGTD)---A 41-year-old Ft. Atkinson man has been identified as the wrong-way driver on Highway 12 between Elkhorn and Lake Geneva late Friday night that forced numerous motorists to take evasive actions to avoid a crash.
Christopher Pinnow is being held in the Walworth County Jail on charges of endangering safety and drug possession.
According to a news release from the sheriff's department, the dispatch center received a report of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Highway 12 near Elkhorn at speeds nearing 100 mph. Lake Geneva police spotted the vehicle and began to follow it. The car crashed south of the city near Clover Rd. Pinnow was not injured.
Although several posts on the social media site Walworth County Scanner described close calls, the department says no other motorists were struck.
