(WGTD)---A white Christmas is looking less and less likely. Once we get past mid-week, temperatures will be warmer than normal for this time of year. Highs in the 40s are forecast in the run-up to Christmas. And it’s expected to be dry, with no snow or rain in sight.

(WGTD)---The family of the 18-year-old Racine man killed by a Mt. Pleasant police officer last summer has filed a federal lawsuit. Tyrese West’s mother, Monique West, announced the move Tuesday. The wrongful death suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages. Racine County District Attorney Trish Hansen ruled in September that Giese shot West in an act of self-defense. Giese said West was grabbing for a gun when he shot him. West died of two bullet wounds to the head.

(WGTD)---The headstone over the body of a former Racine County ‘Jane Doe’ murder victim will be replaced with a monument bearing her actual name. Thanks to the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, a funeral home and a monument-maker, Peggy Lynn Johnson-Schroeder will be memorialized with a proper gravestone. A short ceremony will be held Wednesday morning at 10 in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Caledonia. The case was solved after a Florida resident who overheard a conversation tipped off authorities, and the 20-year-long investigation ended with the arrest of a former Illinois woman who had once befriended the victim. 64-year-old Linda Sue La Roche is facing a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide.

(WGTD)---An employee of a Town of Raymond recycling and metal fabrication business who allegedly took a gun to work and had a history of making racial comments was charged Tuesday with making terrorist threats and disorderly conduct. Bond for 41-year-old Harold Connell of Oak Creek was set at $5,000. The tipping point was reached earlier this month when several Hispanic employees of Imperial Select filed a hostile work environment claim against Connell. When confronted by the owner of the plant, Connell purportedly became very angry and threatened to kill his co-workers. When Connell returned to work the next day, co-workers observed that he had a gun in his back-pack. Connell was later arrested without incident. The owner said he was reluctant to fire Connell because Connell’s wife was the plant’s general manager.

(WGTD)---A Racine County Sheriff’s deputy averted a potential tragedy early Tuesday morning when he came across a woman passed out at the wheel with two small children in the back. According to a news release, 30-year-old Jacqueline Rose Robinson of Rochester had struck a mailbox and drove another 10 miles before coming to a stop with the car in gear and her foot on the brake pedal. The deputy had to ask one of the kids to unlock the door. Heroin and drug paraphernalia were found in the car. The car had heavy damage as a result of striking the mailbox. The children were turned over to protective service workers.

(WGTD)---One of two disciplinary hearings that had been scheduled to go before the Kenosha School Board Tuesday night was postponed to after the first of the year. The employee had requested that the hearing be held in open session. No reason was given for the delay. The second hearing that was scheduled for Tuesday night apparently went on as scheduled behind closed doors. The district isn’t saying what the two cases are about. WGTD reported earlier this week that a hearing held several weeks ago ended with a Bradford High School teacher being fired for voicing a racial slur in a science classroom.
